Kaolin Clay, also known as China Clay, is a naturally occurring white clay mineral composed primarily of kaolinite. Renowned for its whiteness, fine particle size, and chemical stability, kaolin is one of the most versatile industrial minerals with applications across multiple sectors.

What is Kaolin Clay?

Kaolin (Al₂Si₂O₅(OH)₄) is a soft, earthy clay that forms from the chemical weathering of aluminum silicate minerals like feldspar. Its platelet structure gives it unique properties including high brightness, low conductivity, and excellent covering power when used as a pigment or filler.

Our kaolin is carefully processed to maintain its natural properties while meeting strict industrial specifications for particle size distribution, brightness, and viscosity.

Key Applications of Kaolin

  • Ceramics: The primary use in porcelain and sanitaryware where it provides whiteness, strength and thermal stability (fired brightness 85-92%)
  • Paper Industry: As a coating pigment (improves printability, opacity and gloss) and filler (20-35% replacement of wood pulp)
  • Paints & Coatings: As an extender pigment that improves suspension, film durability and weather resistance
  • Rubber: As a reinforcing filler that improves mechanical properties and reduces cost (20-50 phr loading)
  • Cosmetics: In facial masks, soaps and powders for its oil absorption and gentle exfoliation properties
  • Pharmaceuticals: As an excipient in tablets and gastrointestinal medicines (BP/EP/USP grades available)
